5 K RUN / WALK FOR LIFE

2010

             For the second  year, Dustin Jenkins of Elite Feet lent his support to the Pregnancy Resource Center ’s 5K Run /Walk for Life.  PRC event Chair, Dan Armstrong, designed a successful event, complete with medals for place setters and participating children and youth.  Twenty five runners and fifty eight walkers slogged through wet streets and paths to complete the course.  Although we experienced rain, the event went on, bringing in a profit of $8,044 to this important work.  The donation of time and resources by Dan Armstrong, the planning committee, Elite Feet, and the volunteers, made this event  an enormous success.  Walkers represented twenty two churches in the 2010 event.  Joan and Kevin Sedely made sure everyone had enough to eat by planning donuts and coffee which began the morning, with hot dogs and potato chips  served later.

The First Baptist Church of Lapeer Ensemble began

and ended the program with special music.

Five volunteers having served since the Center opened in April 1991 were recognized.

Those honored were Kathy Ettema, Paulette Hazen, Renate Kopp,

Pat McCray and Sharon Mulder.

Board Chair, Chuck Herpolsheimer, introduced speaker, Sarah Bowman.

After an ultrasound in Sarah’s second pregnancy

the doctor gave their son’s diagnosis along with the couple’s options.

The Bowman's made it crystal clear that God had blessed them with this baby and they were in this together with God’s help. 

Sarah’s life affirming message spoke to the hearts of banquet attendees.
